About Me

Originally from Ann Arbor, Michigan, I was a competitive figure skater. Eventually my passion for visual arts took precedence and I attended Oberlin College, majoring in Video and Performance Art. I moved to New York in the mid-2000s to follow this passion but an injury led me to Pilates. I found I was able to be fully present in my body for the first time.  This was a gift I wanted to share with others.

I received my Mat and Equipment Certification from the Kelly Kane School of Core Integration New York City specializing in working with special populations including pre- and post-natal clients, spinal conditions, disc disorders, idiopathic/structural scoliosis, osteoporosis, hip replacement, meniscal injuries of the knee, patella femoral syndrome, PCL/ACL instability tears and repairs, plantar fasciitis, rotator cuff injuries, shoulder instability, frozen shoulder, carpal tunnel syndrome, and pelvic floor dysfunction.

A forever student, I continued my Pilates/movement education over the years including training in Gyrotonics and Gyrokinesis, Alexander Technique, Biofeedback, deep breathing techniques to relax the parasympathetic nervous system, workshops with Master Trainer Deborah Lessen, Master Trainer Blossom Crawford and Physical Therapist Marshall Haggins, as well as a yearlong Mentorship and Art of Teaching Program “the Spring Inside” advanced training program with Master Trainer Peggy Wallin-Hart.

Pilates Experience

pilates with daisy

I taught private & duet sessions and mat & equipment classes in studios in New York City for 7 years before moving to California during the pandemic at the end of 2021. Here, I have continued to work with clients remotely as well as working with teaching in person in Santa Barbra and Montecito. I have experience working with all genders and ages ranging from 9 to 90. In addition to teaching in Pilates studios, I was one of a few Pilates instructors nationwide, selected to teach Pilates to the students of the American Ballet Theater during their 2021 Intensive Summer Program; ages ranging from 9-21. This included building a custom curriculum for each age group and teaching a minimum of 23 young dancers from all over the world.
